A few days ago, Charlie posted about the “Boobquake” idea from Blag Hag. Well, today’s Boobquake day, and women around the world have been wearing immodest clothing in order to point out how ridiculous the Iranian cleric’s statement was, and women’s bodies don’t actually cause earthquakes.
I just got done watching a short clip about it on CNN’s Situation Room, and, well, it was pretty dumb. They had a few short snippets of a Skype interview with Jen McCreight (Blag Hag and Boobquake pioneer). But they gave even more screen time to an obnoxious youtube video where some woman kept yelling “Boobquake” into the camera. Also, it looked like they made it a point to not mention that Jen’s an atheist, and atheism is the main focus of her blog. Over on twitter, it sounds like Jen was disappointed by the piece, too.
At least it’s bringing some attention to her blog, which is highly atheistic and highly readable. Regardless of the superficiality of the CNN piece, it still came off like they agreed that the Islamic cleric’s comments were absurd. So, that’s a plus, at least.
