Here’s the Daily Show interview of revisionist historian David Barton that I mentioned in my last post (you can find the rest of the interview in these clips: 1, 2, 3).

This scumbag continues to have a significant negative impact on the quality, accuracy, and honesty of historical knowledge and education in our country.  I’m glad that Jon Stewart did his best to call him out on some of his misleading statements, but it’s obvious that Barton knows what he’s doing.

Here’s a video by Chris Rodda, Head of Research for the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, debunking a popular lie among Christian revisionists who insist that America was founded as a Christian nation.

After seeing David Barton (who’s a big figure in this revisionist movement — he’s made multiple appearances on Glenn Beck’s show, and has made contributions to Texas history textbooks) appear on The Daily Show recently, Rodda decided to make her book Liars for Jesus, which debunks a number of these revisionists’ claims, available for free online.  You can download it for free, and completely legally, here.  (Of course, if you wish to support the author, you’re also welcome to purchase the book.  Here are some Amazon links: paperback kindle.)

Today I learned that Christianity wishes it were a video game …

Dan Everett’s incredible story — as a Christian missionary, he lived among an Amazon tribe and tried to convert them, but was instead converted to their atheistic worldview.

The Pirahas have shown me that there’s dignity and deep satisfaction in facing life and death without the comfort of heaven or the fear of hell, and in sailing toward the great abyss with a smile.  And they showed me that, for many years, I held my beliefs without warrant.

Here’s a yoga chart submitted by Chuck (a member of our fine Indianapolis meetup group), that’s been updated to reflect recent comments by Christian leaders that yoga is the devil.

“A Christian and an Atheist” podcast episode 82:

In this podcast, Rick (atheist, former pastor, and a contributor to this tumblr) speaks with pastor Scott Barger about his own deconversion, the Bible, evolution, and creationism.

It’s an excellent conversation, and well worth listening to.  Go here for a direct link to the MP3 for this episode, and here for the podcast’s archives.
