Noah's Ark theme park to Feature Dragons and... →
er… wait what?!! I know we have posted a few stories on this so I wasn’t expecting to do anything else on it for awhile.  Our group took a trip to the  Creationist Museum last summer, so I knew about the dragon thing.  I even got a dragon mug. It always makes me laugh when I see it.  But Unicorns? WTF?

Are there more atheists than people think? →
This article asks the question how many people would be considered de facto atheists, but due to cultural upbringing respond to surveys by filling in Christian.  I am not sure if I consider those who go to church, but don’t actually worship in any meaningful way, to be atheists.  Regardless it would be interesting to see some finer grained numbers regarding the varying degrees of...

Kentucky approves tax incentives for Noah's Ark... →
Update since we did the first post on this story.  Preliminary approval has been granted.  Final approval is still pending.  What would such a park entail? “The theme park would include an ancient walled city, a petting zoo, live animal shows featuring giraffes and elephants and a replica of the biblical Tower of Babel.”

Harry Potter Actress Beaten and Branded a Prostitute by Her Family After Dating a Non-Muslim The only thing notable about this story is that it’s being reported. And the only reason it’s being reported is because Ms. Azad is an actress in one of the most popular franchises in movie history.

NASA has discovered amino acids that survived a superheated entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.  It’s an interesting article, but the surprise was reading the comments at the end.  It was all creationists attacking the article.  I was always of the opinion that accepting scientific facts doesn’t mean you can’t believe in crazy crap, but I guess it threatens some of the...

Break time
So I’m back in Indiana after finishing up finals last week.  If anyone was curious about my lack of activity here, it’s because I was working on finals pretty much non-stop last week.  From Tuesday night to Friday morning, I managed to push out more than 10,000 words between a take-home final and a paper.  Needless to say, I required some recovery sleep afterwards.  I think I’m...

New study released showing various religious levels on religious tolerance in countries around the whole..  Here is an excerpt. “Public tensions among religious groups were found in 87 percent of countries, and 64 percent (126 countries) experienced hostilities that involved violence. In 49 countries, civilian people or groups used force or threats to push adherence to a religion. In 17...

Religion and Happiness related? Not necessarily. →
I’m sure people have heard studies things that religion is correlated with a long happy life.    I think its been easy to dismiss any such relationship by arguing about all the negatives of religion, but I don’t think I’ve seen a study that really gets at the root of this correlation.   Thankfully a new study dug a little deeper. “Religious people are happier than...
